Ludmilla (Milla) Jarda is an associate lawyer with Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP, and a member of our Commercial Litigation, Insurance Defence, Personal Injury and Indigenous Law practice groups.
Milla provides a range of services to her clients, advising on issues related to accident benefits, personal injury, insurance defence, and general litigation. She has handled a wide variety of claims, including matters concerning long-term disability, professional negligence, medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death and slip-and-falls. In the area of Indigenous law, Milla has provided advice regarding local governance, as well as band by-laws. In addition to her legal practice, she is also editor of the firm’s Personal Injury Blog.
Before joining the firm, Milla gained significant experience practising in the areas of insurance defence and personal injury at a litigation boutique firm here in Ottawa. During law school, she participated in the Sopinka Cup Moot and the Gale Cup Moot, and she won the McKelvey Cup Moot and the Pierre Armand Landry Cup Moot. She was awarded the prize for best cross-examination at the McKelvey Cup Moot. Milla is also involved with Ottawa’s Advocacy Club, an organization that promotes trial advocacy skills.
Milla is committed to finding practical solutions for her clients and to resolving their legal issues in a cost-effective manner. She enjoys the intellectual challenge of the law and strives to provide strong advocacy for her clients. She is fluently bilingual and represents her clients in both official languages.
Outside the office, Milla likes keeping active by playing soccer, floor hockey and many other sports. She also enjoys travelling and spending time with family and friends.
